Your diet plays an important role in your heart's health.

Soluble Fiber

Eat at least 5 Servings of fruit and vegetables per day (1/2 cup each). Good sources include oatmeal, cold cereal, and oat breads, as well as barley and brown rice.

Fruit and vegetables ensure you get enough fiber in your daily diet.

Omega3 Fatty Acids

Eat fish frequently, especially mackerel, salmon and tuna. Other good sources include walnuts, flax seed, and leafy green vegetables. When possible, eat wild game and fish and limit or avoid processed foods.

Fish provides fatty acids important for healthy heart function.

Foods High in B Vitamins

For B6, eat whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, or barley. Leafy green vegetables are excellent sources of folic acid and b vitamins. For B12, consume lean means and low-fat dairy products.

Eat green leafy vegetables, lean meats, and grains for important daily vitamins and nutrients.

Fat-Free Dairy Products

Eat 2-3 fat-free dairy products a day, such as nonfat or skim milk, yogurt, sour cream, and cream cheese. When possible, buy low-fat cheeses.

Low-fat diary in your daily diet is good for your heart.
